Tigres UANL defender Marco Farfán faces another setback in his recovery and will undergo a new operation. The fracture in the scaphoid bone of his right foot, suffered during the Apertura 2025 Final against Toluca, did not heal as expected after surgery in January, forcing a new procedure.
The player, who already missed almost the entire Clausura 2026, had returned to training with the group in April following a long rehabilitation. However, his return to competitive action has been delayed again. Farfán remains accompanied by the club's medical staff and his close circle during this process.
"Unfortunately, the injury I had in January did not heal the way we expected," Farfán explained. "It was frustrating to receive this news and know I would have to go through the same thing after so much patience and effort, but I know it's part of this."
The left-back maintains his desire to return to competition and play with his teammates, though he acknowledges some aspects of recovery are beyond his control. "Sometimes things don't go the way you'd like," he added. "After a time trying to improve and return amidst discomfort and pain, I have to face one more obstacle."
Farfán's absence comes at a tricky time for Tigres, who sit 14th in Liga MX with 7 points from eight games. The team is coming off a 0-0 draw against Monterrey and their next fixture is against bottom-placed FC Juarez on September 19.
The defender's prolonged absence, after showing progress in April, presents a challenge for the feline backline. The club has not specified a date for the new operation or the exact procedure to be followed. Farfán has stated he will continue working to face the recovery process and return in the best possible condition, viewing this setback as another hurdle on his path back to the pitch.
