Tigres UANL rules out Lozano and Ambriz but keeps Osorio on shortlist

The Tigres UANL board continues its search for a new head coach. In a press conference, club executives confirmed that Jaime Lozano and Ignacio “Nacho” Ambriz are not in their plans, but Juan Carlos Osorio remains an option. The team, currently 15th in Liga MX with 1 point (0W-1D-1L) and a goal difference of -2 (3 scored, 5 conceded), seeks a change to reverse its poor start.

What did the board say about the candidates?

Executive Vice President Carlos Valenzuela and Sports President Carlos Emilio González clarified that the club will not disclose the names of the candidates to maintain discretion in negotiations. However, they confirmed that Lozano and Ambriz are not on the list, while Osorio is still being considered. "They are not part of the list we have today. Juan Carlos Osorio is one of many on the list," Valenzuela stated.

What is the next step in the search?

The club plans to narrow the list to three candidates and begin formal talks. Sports Vice President Gerardo Torrado explained that the process is ongoing and that a final decision will be made soon. Meanwhile, Tigres UANL prepares for its next match against Club Querétaro, currently 9th in the table, on August 1, 2026.
