María Sánchez Returns to Tigres UANL Femenil

María Sánchez, a forward with significant experience in women's football, has returned home. The player, who previously played for San Diego Wave FC, now forms part of the Tigres UANL Femenil squad.

Sánchez expressed her feelings about ending her tenure with San Diego Wave FC: “I want to take a moment to thank the fans and the entire San Diego organization for the incredible support you have given me. It has been an honor to represent this Club and be part of such a special group. San Diego has been a place where I have continued to grow and evolve in my career, and I am so grateful for all the memories and experiences I will take with me.”

Career and Achievements

The player joined the California-based team last April after a trade with Houston Dash. In just two seasons, Sánchez scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

At Tigres, Sánchez proved to be a key player, scoring eight goals and helping the club reach the league final. Before that, she played for C.D. Guadalajara in 2020, where she netted five goals in 21 appearances.

Internationally

Sánchez has been a standout player on the Mexican national women's team since making her debut in 2015, accumulating over 70 caps with the senior side.
